Dermaplaning

Technique using a scalpel to exfoliate the stratum corneum (outer most layer of skin cells) and removing the vellus facial hair, enhancing the Microdermabrasion procedure.

Microdermabrasion

Resurfaces and transforms skin. Microdermabrasion promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells, giving it a smooth texture and appearance, It can help with oily or dry skin and can minimize the appearance of wrinkles. It can also help with acne/pimples.

Skin Classic

Treats minor skin irregularities such as skin tags, spider veins, milia, age spots, brown spots, fibromas, cherry angiomas, sebacious hyperplasia, cholesterol deposits, reduction of acne and pimples, extraction of black heads and whiteheads.

Permanent Make-up Tattooing

Permanent cosmetics, also known as micropigmentation, cosmetic tattooing, or simply permanent make-up, are forms of implanting iron oxide pigments within the dermal layer of skin to create soft, subtle color to eye brows, eyeliner (top and bottom) and lips.

This process has been around since ancient times, but today we have very sophisticated means to achieve the precise deposit of color we desire in the skin.

It's the perfect "thing" for women and men (yes, men too!) who love to look good at all times.

Massage Therapy

by Casey, LMT

Swedish Massage:

Provides a relaxation time period for the body; with this type of massage, the bodies' lymphatic system, circulatory system, and other systems will receive the benefits of the massage. Swedish massage is applying gentle pressure, evenly, smoothly over the areas that are being worked on. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other possible benefits include stimulation of circulation, an increase in muscle tone, and a balance of the musculo-skeletal systems. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load.

Deep Tissue Massage:

Massage manipulation of the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue manipulation therapy uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure is more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the deep tissue massage therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as "adhesions.") Although it is more uncomfortable then Swedish massage, it shouldn't hurt.

Manipulation usually focuses on a specific problem, such as:

Chronic pain
Limited mobility
Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury) deep tissue injury
Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
Postural problems
Osteoarthritis pain
Fibromyalgia(not recommended for severe cases)
Muscle tension or spasm

Benefits from Deep tissue Massage:

Adhesions can block circulation and press on the nerves, causing pain, limited movement, and inflammation.

When there is chronic muscle tension or deep tissue injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

Deep tissue massage therapy works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.

Hydrotherapy:

Application of water in one of its three forms: Solid, liquid or vapor. The temperature of the water affects the body. Changes in the body as a result of hydrotherapy are classified as thermal, mechanical and chemical.

Thermal effects of water are produced by the application of water at temperatures above or below that of the body.
Such as: Baths, wraps, and packs that raise or lower the temperature of the body.

Mechanical effects are produce by the pressure exerted on the surface of the body
Such as: Sprays, whirlpools, friction.

Chemical effects are produced by drinking water; this aide in digestion and elimination of toxins in the body.

Pre/Post Natal Massage:

Properly applied massage can be relaxing and beneficial for both Mother and unborn child. Massage can aide in relaxation, benefit circulation, and soothe nerves. However, with some pregnancies, there can be contraindications for receiving massage. If this does occur, then a further consultation will be advised once the client has discussed the matters with their physician.

Massage during labor of the abdomen and upper legs can obtain relief between contractions. Lower back discomfort can be reduced by firm continuous counter pressure during the contraction on each side of the spine to help reduce the contraction pain.

Massage after birth, this will help relieve tight muscles in the shoulders, lower back, legs and sides from giving birth. These muscles are usually the most strained and can cause uncomfortable sleeping for the mother, or soreness while trying to get comfortable position to breastfeed the newborn. When massage is combined with normal exercise after the birth of the newborn, it can help you lose the weight that you have gained during the pregnancy. But this should be consulted with a physician before scheduling your appointments.

Infant Massage:

There are many benefits of infant massage such as relaxation for the infant, enhancing infant bonding with parent or caretaker, aiding in physical growth and development, promoting communication, and improving an infant's sleep cycle. Infant massage relieves an infant of pain or discomfort it may be feeling associated with teething, congestion (chest or sinus), colic, or emotional stress. In addition infant massage has been shown to improve premature babies, to help with weight gain and stimulate recovery sooner. Infant massage can also help reduce jaundice in babies as well, by daily massage provided by the parents.

Rehabilitative Massage:

Massage applied to any effected area, that has been injured, or immobility from an accident. With this massage there is several stretching exercises and massage manipulation that can be applied to help the client reach there desired range of motion in the affected area. Clients will have to have a release and a plan of action from the treating physician. If massage is applied and circumstances are not known, it can cause further injury.

Athletic/Sports Massage:

Form of bodywork geared for participants in athletics or exercise. Massage is used to help prevent injuries, and maintain optimal condition for the body during an athletic activity. Massage can also help in recovery from workouts and injuries sooner, for the athlete.

There are 3 basic forms of Sports Massage:

Pre-event - Use to warm up the muscles, tendons and ligaments prior to exerting them in the event. This is increases blood flow to all muscles, tendons and ligaments and helps reduce the toxin build ups that are already in the muscles prior to the event.

Post-event - Use to cool down the muscles, make sure that circulation is going to the complete muscle area, tendons, and ligaments. This helps to prevent strain, or cramping in the muscles later on, it also helps the body to flush the rest of the toxins, and acids built up in the muscles.

Maintenance - If done weekly or continuously the athlete will know where they have a higher risk of injury if not maintained, it will also help to ensure that the work outs and exercise are not causing injury that is hidden and the client may not know about it.
